Description:
1:1
Redundant Amplifier (LNB,LNA) Switch Controller
Description for the Model DNL-4.
The DNL-4 interfaces to two
LNBs, and one wave guide switch. (wave guide
switch not normally included.)
The
controller contains an independent power supply for
each LNB. Other power supplies include a 28V (for
switching), and a 5 volt for logic. All power
supplies have universal AC Voltage input.
The DNL-4
also contains 2 L-band Bias Tees which are 4 port
devices. The forth port is an oscillator input.
(reference input). The LNB reference signal is
injected at the rear of the DNL-4 chassis via BNC
connectors. (If used)
Please
Note that any bias tees can be used. Let us know
about your application and we’ll incorporate the
bias tee of your choosing.
Rear
Chassis Bulkhead Connections include:
1) RF output from coax switch
2) Connections to amplifiers
from bias tees
3) 10 MHz Reference inputs to
bias tees (If used)
The controller contains S2
(see front panel). S2 is a coax switch that receives
the RF coming back from the LNBs. The output from
this switch is presented on a rear chassis bulkhead
mounted connector.
(If a manual override type
transfer switch is chosen, then the manual override
knob is rear chassis mounted for easy access.
Note: (28V
refers to any voltage in the range from 20V to 30V.)
The standard controller
assumes a switch common of –28v and the position
commands are +28v. If your application requires
something different, let us know. However the coax
switch and waveguide switch should have the same
voltage and polarity. Also, the wave guide switch
must have position indicators for use by the
controller.
All
internal RF cabling is high quality semi-ridged,
polycoated, 0.141 coax cabling. The RF Bulkhead
connectors may be user specified.
The
controller has a standard RS232/RS485 serial
connection. A relay I/O rear chassis output is also
standard.
The
controller can monitor two types of fault inputs
that may be “ORed” together. The LNB power being
supplied is current monitored with an adjustable
allowable window. Other fault input types include
normally open or normally closed fault inputs. (dip
switch selectable)
The
automatic mode can respond to either or both fault
types. (dip switch selectable)
The
controller has a universal voltage input. The AC
input is a CE marked/ Hi Pot tested filtered input.
The front panel AC switch doubles as a circuit
breaker for the entire unit.
LNB power
supplies are normally 24V or 15V with a power rating
of 30W. Higher currents are available.
The Local
control unit has a height of 3.5” (2 RU), and a
front panel width of 19”, and a depth of approx. 24”
(no cables attached). It is designed to mount in a
standard 19” relay rack.
Slides are optional.
Features:
4 Power supplies:
a) LNB A Power supply
b) LNB B Power supply
c) 5V Logic Power supply
d) Supply for switching 20-30V wave guide
switch.
Dual 2 Amp Bias Tees
with oscillator inputs.

Faults can be monitored either by
a dry contact fault indicators or by setting a
current window that monitors each LNB power supply.
